Course Objectives This course aims to examine the historical roots of public relations in the world and in Turkey.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Differentiate the meaning of PR and propaganda
  • Describe the history of modern PR in Turkey
  • Compare PR histories in various countries.
  • Explain appropriate research techniques for historical research.
  • Criticize mainstream PR history approach
Course Description This course gives the students a historical perspective to understand the concept of modern PR. In doing so, it covers the most important events, cases and names that have had an impact on the development of the public relations profession in Turkey and in the world. It also discusses the impacts of social movements and professional NGOs on this developmental process.
