'International' cooperation of Izmir University of Economics
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Public Relations and Advertising took another important step towards internationalization and collaborated with the famous advertising agency "Dentsu Aegis Network", which has offices in 145 different parts of the world. Thanks to the collaboration agreement made with the Japan-based agency, 50 students who took the "Introduction to Digital Communication" course at IUE started to take lessons from company officials.
15 topics were determined as part of the agreement, which provides the students of IUE Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising, the opportunity to take lessons from experienced names. Every week, a different name, who has a senior role in the agency, shares their knowledge with young people as a guest of the class thanks to the distance education opportunity provided by IUE. IUE students find the opportunity to directly ask what they are curious about, while improving their network. The cooperation with "Dentsu Aegis Network", which will continue until the end of this year, is aimed to continue increasingly in the coming years.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selin Türkel, Head of IUE Department of Public Relations and Advertising, stated that they aim to provide students with the best education by providing partnerships with national and international brands in the sector. Türkel said, “We are one of the first universities to include the 'Introduction to Digital Communication' course compulsorily in the curriculum as a department. We wanted to continue our pioneering role here with a new international step. And we have succeeded. We have provided our students with a very important opportunity to receive a strong and effective education. The positive feedback we received from our students also made us very happy. The work we will do is not limited to this. We will continue to realize new projects and collaborations that will enable our students to take a step forward by receiving qualified education.”
Gözde Çeviker Çınar, the coordinator of the Introduction to Digital Communication course said, “Digital communication is a vast universe including media, creativity, strategy, and search engine optimization. The course aims to make students learn about these topics. Famous agencies such as Carat, Isobar, dentsu X and iProspect, which are also known in our country, operate under the umbrella of Dentsu Aegis Network. At this point, the importance of cooperation becomes clear. Every subject covered in the course is conveyed to students by an expert in that field. Students, who take the course, will have the opportunity to perform an internship in such a well-known and important agency within the scope of the protocol. We see the course as the beginning of a long-lasting cooperation between the two institutions.”
